Edna Hernandez proudly serves the students at Laureles Elementary as the Campus Principal Mrs. Hernandez has been part of the Los Fresnos CISD family since 2022. During her career in public education that began in 2011, Mrs. Hernandez has served as a 5th grade Bilingual teacher, Kinder Dual Language Teacher, and Middle School CTE Teacher.  Prior to her current role, she was an Instructional Officer, Instructional Coach and a Lead Teacher for LFCISD. Mrs. Hernandez received her Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Degree with an emphasis in Bilingual Education from The University of Texas at Brownsville and her Masters of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Math and Science from UTRGV.  

 

Committed to continuous growth, Mrs. Hernandez is currently participating in the Holdsworth Campus Leadership Program, an intensive, two-year professional development experience for Texas public school leaders. Working closely with her campus leadership team, she has already driven significant system growth and achievement at Laureles Elementary. Moving forward, the team's core focus in the program is to improve student outcomes and ensure robust, data-driven support for classroom teachers." 

Mrs. Hernandez also participated in the most recent cohort of the Los Fresnos CISD Aspiring Principal Fellowship. As a fellow she began to enhance her leadership skills aligning her vision to campus goals and needs. She had the opportunity to be mentored by other campus and district leaders that have coached her into embodying our profile of a leader. 

 

She is a proud mother of 3 beautiful children, two of whom are current students in LFCISD. This connection means her approach and every decision is not only as the campus Principal, but also as a concerned parent. My vision for Laureles Elementary is to build a strong, collaborative bridge between our campus and the community. We must work alongside one another to ensure Laureles remains a safe, nurturing space that not only educates our students but actively builds future lifelong learners.

Cynthia M. Garcia proudly serves the students at Laureles Elementary School.  Ms. Garcia has been part of the Los Fresnos CISD family since 1994. Ms. Garcia received her Bachelor of Arts degree and Masters of Educational Leadership from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.  Ms. Garcia is grateful to serve the wonderful students, families, and community members of Laureles Elementary School, and she is very honored to serve alongside the dedicated Mustang Family Members.
 
As the proud parent of three wonderful children, who are all three thriving products of the Los Fresnos school district system, she uses this personal experience to reflect on her leadership role. Her dedication to students and families is rooted not only in her role as Assistant Principal, but also in her experience as a parent who has entrusted her own children to the Los Fresnos school community. She currently has the pleasure to serve the Laureles community. 
Ms. Stephany Montoya serves the students at Laureles Elementary as the Instructional Officer. Ms. Montoya has been part of the Los Fresnos CISD family since 2024. During her career in public education that began in 2014, Ms. Montoya has served as a high school English Teacher, Lead Teacher, and Secondary Literacy Coach. Ms. Montoya received her Bachelor of English degree and her Master of Educational Leadership in the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley.
